(Thanks anyway for that; it's brought a lot of traffic to my blog.) The Tim Wise video was an excellent accessory to it. There's not more I can add to this - you said it all. (At which, I agree, he's frickin' brilliant.) It would be interesting to see a blog that is not focused as much as this one is on whiteness (and as much as Wise himself is) do something in non-racial terms with Wise's theories.

Oh, and by the way, they're not really his theories and insights, are they? He regularly begins his talks by saying that he has nothing original to say, because black people, especially, have said it all before already, and it's really kind of a shame that he, Tim Wise the White Guy, gets so much more respect and credit for saying it, largely because he's white instead of black. (I wonder if a black person saying the same things to you could have been as much of an unmatched force in your adult life as Wise was?)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-528074983146803930.post-32686903933160092242008-06-10T10:15:00.000-07:002008-06-10T10:15:00.000-07:00Tim Wise is my hero. He has opened my eyes in a way that is unmatched by any other force in my adult life.

It's fascinating, because though this blog is focused specifically on a racial standpoint, Wise's theories on privilege apply in a broader spectrum to any group that isn't normative: women, homosexuals, trans-gendered people, people with disabilities, etc.Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02521379628878852201noreply@blogger.com
