You wrote,

"Democrats are making history this year because for the first time, their nominee will be a person who is either a woman or an African American."

Are you leaving out her race and his sex on purpose? I am not sure whether you are doing it to make a point or not.

Yes, on purpose to make a point, but only in that particular sentence. It's point is to describe the two ways that Dems are making history--by advancing this far both a woman and a black person. His masculinity and her whiteness are important factors more generally, of course, but I didn't mention them in that sentence because bearers of both whiteness and masculinity have long occupied elected offices--nothing history making about that.macon dhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07795547197817128339noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-528074983146803930.post-9924162893703567662008-05-22T01:25:00.000-07:002008-05-22T01:25:00.000-07:00"Democrats are making history this year because fo..."Democrats are making history this year because for the first time, their nominee will be a person who is either a woman or an African American."

Are you leaving out her race and his sex on purpose? I am not sure whether you are doing it to make a point or not. If so, I fear it's getting a little lost in the shuffle. I'm very much on board with what Eisenstein writes, so I feel like this particular sentence construction, unless deliberate, is once again playing into "all the women are white, all the blacks are men...."

I get that the whole point of the post is to discuss that trend, which is why I'm confused. Hmmm - maybe I'm explaining too much here...seitzkhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16383559351073204534noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-528074983146803930.post-46157938479490149752008-05-21T08:16:00.000-07:002008-05-21T08:16:00.000-07:00Good stuff. And she's such an antifeminist. I was getting tired of telling everyone else :-D

It's amazing how a lot of these White feminists are in supporting Hillary when she's trying her damnedest to masculate herself for advancement. Last I checked, the point of feminism was to be a woman while still having the right to explore your potential just as a man would. Hillary's got it all wrong.

And why won't the media focus on how critical the White feminist community is of Hillary? They're also taking note of her checking her womanhood at the door.Anonymisshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13030472200941563001noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-528074983146803930.post-1647964524490517092008-05-21T07:40:00.000-07:002008-05-21T07:40:00.000-07:00The point I'm attempting to make Sir is not about ...The point I'm attempting to make Sir is not about which administration is worse. It should be plainly clear to all interested observers (..the American people?) that 911, the bogus war on terror - the slaughter and maiming of innocent people in foreign lands for their "resources" - torture, rendition, the theft of liberty via the suspension of habeas corpus, fraudulent elections, blatant corruption and a host of other "more egregious" acts under the current administration and the entire so-called representative republic system of governance is a viable and trustworthy indicator of what and who America is.

I only mentioned Hillary's past criminal indiscretions because, one, she is the subject of your post, and to illustrate how far America has fallen. When a scandalon such as Mrs. Clinton can commit so many known legal infractions and yet win a seat in the senate and become a viable candidate for the presidency, surely the Bell Tolls for America!

The fact is that known criminals, racists (white supremacists) are and have been running the country, and the whole world, whether they are visible or hidden in the shadows.

With the backdrop of America's intellectual, moral and spiritual ineptness in mind, who's going to be able to bring down this horrific system of mistreatment, oppression and injustice based upon the color of one's skin?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-528074983146803930.post-1914184520065786462008-05-20T21:42:00.000-07:002008-05-20T21:42:00.000-07:00Frankly, anonymous, I'm amazed that you find these...Frankly, anonymous, I'm amazed that you find these instances of "thuggery" more worthy of mention than the much more egregious ones committed by the current administration--there's hardly space here in the comments section to even begin listing them all. Surely those bode far worse for the spiritual, moral and intellectual condition of the American people than the comparatively minor peccadilloes of the Clinton administration.macon dhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07795547197817128339noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-528074983146803930.post-29249955951723263382008-05-20T21:34:00.000-07:002008-05-20T21:34:00.000-07:00Frankly, I'm amazed at America's collective short ...Frankly, I'm amazed at America's collective short term memory regarding the scandal plagued Clinton "white" house.

With thuggery like Watergate, Travelgate, Chinagate, the renting of the Lincoln Bedroom for cash, Vince Foster, Ron Brown, Hillary's brother financial involvement with Bill Clinton's last minute pardons of felons, and Bill's sexual misdeeds - even being accused of rape - unrealistic monetary investment returns, impeachment and much more, America's credibilty of being a "just" nation of laws is DEAD.

That Hillary has been able to become not only a Senator, but a contender for the oval office does not bode well for the spiritual, moral and intellectual condition of the American people, assuming that the people still think and care about such seemingly outmoded things.

If this climate of wickedness is indicative of America's past and present unrepentant character (it is!), then what hope is there for the US in the matter of dismantling racism (white supremacy)???

ZERO.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-528074983146803930.post-1099987989598331092008-05-20T06:07:00.000-07:002008-05-20T06:07:00.000-07:00I am really disturbed by Hillary's actions during ...I am really disturbed by Hillary's actions during this election. During her husband's presidency, I was once enamored by her attitude and how she stood up for justice and equality. Now, she is playing the race card more than ever. In addition, her campaign ads against Obama were terribly negative. Plus, she has not addressed women's issues and other issues that she once was a biggest advocate while she was the former First Lady to even during her time as a Senator in New York state, what has changed?La Legione di Resistenzahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05818326093597590053noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-528074983146803930.post-44068056956026423462008-05-19T23:19:00.000-07:002008-05-19T23:19:00.000-07:00What about the example it sets for our kids??Notic...What about the example it sets for our kids??

Notice Fox News wasn't playing that holy-roller angle. They were all for Hillary drinking in a country that has a drinking problem, ask Tim Wise.

The ironic part is how they ran a story about a French class where students were allowed to drink during their trip to France.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-528074983146803930.post-90530988736199318882008-05-19T16:31:00.000-07:002008-05-19T16:31:00.000-07:00No problem, I'm glad to explain that photo choice....No problem, I'm glad to explain that photo choice. It shows Hillary workin' her whiteness. She's trying to get with working-class white-guy voters by doing shots with them. She was also photographed drinking beer with such voters. I'm surprised she didn't also round up a gaggle of photographers for a geared-up goose hunt. . . or did she?macon dhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07795547197817128339noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-528074983146803930.post-67085116902887964882008-05-19T16:26:00.000-07:002008-05-19T16:26:00.000-07:00Forgive me if this is a dumb question, but is ther...Forgive me if this is a dumb question, but is there a specific reason why you chose that photo of Hillary Clinton?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
